Proteam Dehumidifying Egg
Rated 4/5 by Clo, Brentwood, Essex on 19th November 2009

The egg is good for dehumidifying small areas. I bought it to be placed on windowsill in a room 10ft by 9ft as I thought it would absorb condensation which collects on the window overnight but it doesn't really do this. However it does work better in our downstairs cloakroom which is very small. On the box it says it is designed to dehumidify a small area, such as a wardrobe or cupboard. I have successfully reactivated it by placing it in the microwave for 5 mins. It is attractive to look at and easy to use but if you need a bigger area dehumidified I think you need to buy a dozen eggs!

Failed to egg-cite!
Rated 2/5 by A. Golby, Midlands, UK on 11th November 2009

I've had this on a window sill in a small bedroom which is suffering from a bit of excess moisture causing condensation on the window glass and small mold spots. As this advertises being suitable for small rooms, I decided to give it a go rather than investing in a big power hungry unit. Unfortunately, I've had it a week and it hasn't made any difference. The blue patch is still blue and it doesn't appear to be doing anything. I could be asking too much of it but was hoping it would show some signs of curing the problem.

Works well in confined spaces
Rated 4/5 by Stevie, Cambs, UK on 22nd January 2010

I think some of the reviewers of this product had unrealistic expectations. If you want to prevent condensation on your windows then you probably have humidity over 60% in your whole house and this little egg doesn't stand a chance. For that you would need to spend £100 mininum for a proper condensing electric dehumidifier and you'll be amazed how many litres of water that draws out of the air in your house. I actually have one of those too, which does a great job of keeping moisture in my house down to a comfortable level (which in turn reduces your heating bills as well as protects your house and contents from moisture damage). This egg comes into its own if you have an isolated moisture problem in a confined space, like in a corner cupboard, where it just can't get sufficient airflow for moisture to be prevented. That's exactly the location I'm using mine and I'm sure it is helping. Roughly after 2 weeks I find the indicator changes colour meaning it has absorbed as much water as it can, so I put it in the microwave for 10 minutes and the cycle starts again. If that's the kind of moisture problem you're trying to avoid then I would recommend this product.

Humidity Egg
Rated 5/5 by Ronald D. Warren, Guisborough, Cleveland UK on 19th December 2009

We have four of these and use them to cut down the condensation on windows in the lounge and bedrooms. They're unobtrusive and easy to regenerate, just 4 minutes at full power in the micro-wave. We fully recommend them for their function.

Good idea to have one or two
Rated 4/5 by Susiedew, UK on 4th January 2010

I have several of the dehumidifying eggs throughout my home. Although they are meant for small areas, I find that they "do the trick" fairly effectively & are much less expensive than using an electric dehumidifyer. I have two in my lounge/dining room as it's quite large. Regenerating an egg in the microwave oven once it's saturated with moisture, takes 10 mins on 650w setting. Easy to do, but be very careful not to lift the egg out of the microwave without using a thick cloth to hold it with as it is initially blisteringly hot! The price paid via Amazon has been the cheapest I've seen.Proteam Dehumidifying Egg

Product very fragile and poorly packaged
Rated 1/5 by B. Goddin, South West, England on 9th November 2009

This product is very fragile (being a ceramic egg)and Amazon packaged it in a box around 4 times larger than it and with 1 bit of brown paper for internal protection- not a great shock that the product was smashed in pieces when I received it! Very disappointed and wouldn't buy a 'fragile' product from Amazon again- although they do get a point for no quibbles returns policy (once you have navigated the site to find how to do this!). The product itself should work fine in smaller rooms with not too high humidity- having seen the product (in more pieces than I had hoped) I'm not sure that it would have done much good in my bathroom. Nice idea though and I am looking out for it in a 'bricks and mortar' store where I can be sure I am paying for an uncracked egg! Be wary of amazon packaging on this one!
